Mission: Fix Buzz

A really really long time ago Dexter's beloved Buzz Lightyear's batteries went flat.  Oh no!  At the time we searched the house for just the right size screw driver to access the battery compartment but alas, one couldn't be found.  It was o.k, Dex wasn't devastated, he played with (quiet) Buzz regardless.  Every now and then Dex would ask when were we ever going to get the right screw driver so we could change Buzz's batteries?  And then we'd all promptly forget about it!

Well on Sunday, in a head slapping moment Will suddenly remembered that our workshop in the warehouse has every known size screw driver to man and why didn't we think of it sooner instead of all these unfulfilled plans to go buy one?  This was met with wild excitement from Dexter.  The sun was out for the first time in a week, we had nowhere to be and nothing to do for the entire afternoon and Now was the time to finally Fix Buzz!

Mission: Fix Buzz was launched!

First step: ride to warehouse.  Tick!

2nd Step:  Before getting to the nitty gritty work of battery changing admire -and play with - the new espresso machine, a brand new model from La Marzocco.  Check out that steam!  Isn't she a beauty?

3rd Step: Enter the workshop and find the correct size screw driver.  Done!

4th Step:  Remove flat batteries.

5th Step:  Go upstairs to storeroom to grab new batteries.  Get distracted by the awesome map in daddy's office.

7th Step:  Insert fresh batteries and screw Buzz back together.

8th Step:  Test him out.  He works!  Yay!  Listen to all those familiar beeps and phrases with utter glee as if for the first time.   Hear Tim Allen's voice declaring "This is an intergalactic emergency!" and "I am Buzz Lightyear of Star Command".

9th Step:  Secure Buzz in bike basket for the ride home.

10th Step:  Ride home.

Mission accomplished!

  1. Too cute! We have a dead battery-Buzz somewhere (a bit like an abandoned Jessie from TS2....).
