More from Experiment Tuesday

Robert Winston's Science Experiments is still our current go to book for our Tuesday Experiments.  Recent activities which I have managed to photograph (below) included Create a Cloud, Eggs-periencing Air Pressure, Split a Sunbeam and Launch a Bottle Rocket.  More that didn't get documented in photographs - Fizzy Fountain, Baking Soda Bag Bomb and Connection Currents.  So much fun!

We've started a list of things we want to get a hold of in order to attempt some of the more 'advanced' experiments this book offers.  Some things look trickier than others to track down.  Please leave a comment if you have any useful tips for tracking these things down, ta!

phenolphthalein indicator
powdered alum (a.k.a. potassium alum or alum potash)
effervescent tablets
blotting paper
really long balloons
agar flakes and beef bouillon cubes (to make agar dishes for growing bacteria!)
rubbing alchohol
magnet wire (enamelled copper wire)
d-cell battery (1.5 volts)
germanium diode
crocodile clips
soft metal tubing, 3mm wide
copper coins
hydrogen peroxide
dry ice pellets

  1. That's quite a list! You may need to make friends with a school science teacher. Sounds like a cool book.
