And the piece de resistance...Goop! Which we've been wanting to make since the junior science workshop the boys participated in last week at SHRIMPs (1st photo below). It's a polymer made from PVA glue, Borax and water. Squeeze it hard and it just breaks up in your hand, squeeze it slowly and gently and it stays in one piece. Ball it up and leave on the table, it eventually flattens out. Press your fingers into it to leave fingerprints, then a few minutes later they've disappeared and the surface is glossy. And boy does it bounce! We played with it all afternoon and then kept returning to it throughout the evening. Here are some variations I'd like to try soon.
Yeah, Lou! That's a glorious day, I think. My kids would have loved every minute (and my girl would have coveted those marshmallows!). Isn't it funny how sometimes you're snapping away with the camera, or just living, and you suddenly realise there's a theme, or that the kids have taken off on a learning tangent that you can clearly see, like a rainbow you could walk on? ReplyDeleteGoop. Mix 1/2 cup of PVA (white) glue w 1/2 cup water in small bowl. Add food colouring if desired. In another bowl mix 1 teaspoon Borax with 1/2 cup water until disolved. Add Borax mix to glue mix. Knead a little with hands. Done! Enjoy Karen, we made it again today that's how much fun it is!
